Housed in a 120-year-old historic building that once served as the residence of Haji Abdul Saheb, the founder of Corporation Bank, the Corporation Bank Heritage Museum (Coin Museum) offers a fascinating glimpse into India’s rich numismatic and banking history. Located just 500 meters from the Udupi City Bus Stand (and 6 km / 15 minutes drive from Tropical Bay Resort).
Museum Exhibits
- Coin Collection: Rare coins dating back to 400 BC, from ancient dynasties such as the Maurya, Kushan, Satavahana, and Gupta empires. Also includes coins from the Mughal era (reigns of Akbar, Jahangir, and Shah Jahan). In total, over 1,400 coins valued at 40 lakh rupees showcase India's numismatic evolution.
- Postage Stamp Collection: A vast array of stamps that document the country’s philatelic history.
- Banking Heritage: Exhibits tracing the history of India’s banking sector since the establishment of Corporation Bank in 1906.
